Pain Management

Relief Can be Real!

Pain affects every person in the world at some time or another. Pain is the second most common reason for seeking a healthcare practitioner. One of the most prevalent problems facing our society today is chronic pain. While most individuals experience acute, mild to moderate pain, some individuals experience chronic, severe pain. In 1987, it was estimated that more than 75 million Americans suffer from chronic, handicapping pain. The total cost of "pain" in the US is estimated to be in excess of $100 billion annually, making it one of the largest health problems.

While it is true that most patients do not die from benign pain, many patients suffer needlessly and experience a disabling existence. The impact of unrelieved chronic pain can result in a decreased quality of life, productivity, earned wages and a decreased willingness to be compliant with medical therapy. With decreased compliance, comes increased pain and suffering.

At Moore's Pharmacy and Moore's City Drug we specialize in pain management. Our goal as pain management pharmacists is to increase compliance in pain therapy by providing many specialized dosage forms. These specialized dosage forms allows us to treat pain in ways not commonly available. For example many doctors will use a combination of Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen to treat pain. However, the acetaminophen liver toxicity limits the amount of hydrocodone that can be used thus minimizing the effectiveness in chronic pain sufferers. Our pharmacists axe able to compound medications for patients with special needs. Some patients may not be able to swallow or maybe they have low muscle mass which prohibits the use of injectable drugs. There are many dosage forms that we make available to our customers and physicians which can overcome these special needs including:
